Our first meeting with the local Daves

Welcome to Brizzy, the most dynamic and youthful place to live! With it's very mild winters and tropical summers, Brisbane allows us to enjoy a great outdoor lifestyle! Being so far away from home, we would love to introduce our small adventure to friends and family step by step!

Let's start with the trip number 1. The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary! After a nice breakfast on our balcony (view from the balcony above), we went to the next 7/11 in order to purchase one of those Go-cards which allows usage of the public transportation through check-in and -out at the vehicle's door by wiping the card over a magnetic receptor. Before arriving at the bus-stop leading to the heart of the city, we were blown away by Kelvin grove's Religious message for the day though:

Slightly irritated we managed to figure out which bus to take to get DOWNTOWN, where we had to switch buses to get to the highly praised Koala and Kangaroo-heaven. The 25 minutes transit was peppered with a quick pit-stop and our first Sushi-snack down-under.

Arriving at the Zoo, we were curious which animal we were going to lay our eyes upon first. Looking slightly familiar, these so called carpets of the outback had quite some similarities with the European wool-spenders:

Cute, mute and not very entertaining, the sheep could only attract our attention for about 15 minutes until our gaze was suddenly struck by something almost as fast as lightning: SUPERDAVE!!

We knew his origins were somewhere in Australia!!! It was a young motivated single male scouting around the prairies of the zoo. Desperately wanting to see more of Australia's most awesome species (next to the Platypus of course) we got all excited and started our search for the actual holy Kangaroo-territory!

A couple of walking minutes later, we finally found them and were both struck by the beauty and chillax-ness of these red beauties. The sight was so overwhelming that we instantly decided to make these AWESOME animals or more their European relatives to our housemates one day. They'd get their own couch in the sunniest spot in the garden of course:

After some language-and cultural difficulties (there were large groups of disturbing noisy chinese scattered around) we were finally invited to enjoy the sunny afternoon and chill a little with the gang :)

So we followed the example, laid down...

... and first had to introduce ourselves to everyone:

Having a couple of snacks together helps bridging the communication-difficulties and getting to know each other a little better:

Actually the Australian accent is not as bad as everyone in Europe told us before we came here. As these pictures prove, it didn't take us all too long to get along pretty well :)

Mr. Arnold Superdave here was absolute against his ladies chill-axing together with us in front of the camera. But this time Benjamin found the right herb to cool his temper. He was a little skeptical at first but the curiosity and his good taste won:

So in the end, it was all cool and we managed to take a couple of nice pics posing altogether:

And in the end, Arnold even volontaired to take a picture of Ewa and Benjamin together with his favourite chick Mildred :)

Once we have finally managed to make our new Australian kangaroo-friends, we have met famous eucalyptus eaters, who actually spend about three of their five active hours eating!

Those guys have literally NO problem with hugging some newcomers ;-)

At the end of day we took a bus back to Brisbane City. Because our nearly met french friends were going away the very next day, we went to explore some Brizzy night life with them.

This was a very nice day.
Good Night Brizzy...
